Valentine's Day

"Ah, Valentine's Day.  The official end of Christmas."
~  Frankie Heck (mom in the sitcom, The Middle)

Chad & I get a big kick out of the characters, on that show.  We roll with laughter, during most episodes.  Smack-dab in the middle of that quote, Frankie & her husband are shown finally removing ornaments off their dried up Christmas tree.

Decoration-wise, I identify with Frankie's sigh of relief.  I finally put away our Christmas village & two nativity sets a day after Valentine's Day.  Thank the Lord my brother & his family were coming for a visit, this past weekend.  It's what motivated me to de-Christmas the area near the guest bedroom...and relieve the guest bedroom of its responsibility of being "Santa's Workshop".  I removed wrapping paper, gift bags, bows and promptly returned them to the proper boxes placed some of the items on the deep freeze, in the laundry room.

Valentine's Day is already in the books for 2012.  Jewelry commercials bombarded guys a few days after New Year's, stuffed animals holding hearts filled shelves that previously held sparkling garland, & candy hearts replaced candy canes.  While it's well-known that the holiday is heavily marketed to couples, I honestly think it's a great day to celebrate with all those I love/care about in my life.

Why not share a smile, hug, kind word, piece of chocolate, a carnation, a sweet card or a fun dinner/movie with family & friends?   The Bible says that we love, because God first loved us (1 John 4:19).  So, go ahead.  Love and encourage the hearts of many on your next Valentine's Day.

A small heart cookie cutter pressed through an organic toaster pastry.
Heart-shaped cereal sprinkled on the plate.
Boom!
You've got a Valentine's Day breakfast made in less than a minute.
Just call me Martha.

Behold my husband's mad pizza dough shaping skills!
He's taken, Ladies.  :)

Thanks to a quick trip to Cheri's bakery, we had these sweet hearts for dessert.
