Grandmas, Shield Your Eyes

One of J's good buddies celebrated his birthday, by inviting J & one other friend for an afternoon of four-wheelin', dune buggying, and go-carting.  Let me reassure any grandmas that there were four adults providing constant supervision & helmets were worn by all three children.  The adults even had remotes that could automatically bring the four wheelers to a complete stop, if/when necessary.  How's that for genius??

After the birthday boy's grandpa gave a lesson on four wheeling, he had the boys practice a little...proving they could start & stop the vehicle.  Once accomplished, they were turned loose on a wide, open lawn.  They all picked it up quite well.

They were all cruising right along wonderfully, until...

J took a bit of spill.  It's true, & I can almost hear my mom gasp from here.  No worries, though.  He's okay, & I stayed relatively calm.  His ankle is a little bruised, but he was super tough.  He couldn't wait to ride again & hardly wanted to stop for putting ice on his ankle.

(Sorry...the photo refuses to go vertical.)

After a yummy birthday snack & opening gifts, J was speeding by once again, like "ankle schmankle".  They all had such a good time!!

Sweet freedom!

Silly boys

Friends!!

I was so proud of J's bravery, courage, & skills.  I'm sure he'll ride again in the future.  I'm proud of my own bravery for not totally freaking out the whole time.  :)  God definitely helps me be a mommy to boys.  This I see more & more.
