The Good, the Bad, & the Random

The Good:
A funny conversation occurred, last week, while on our way to L's 1st grade program:
L:  "When we get there, I need to go to the loco music room."
Me:  "The what?"
L:  "The loco music room."
Me:  "Oh, the VOCAL music room."
L:  "Yes, the loco music room."
Me:  "No, Honey.  Vocal."
L:  "V-loco."
Chad:  "V-v-vocal."

Well, you get the picture.  I love kids!  :)  Oh, and the vocal music program was a hit!  Imagine teaching/motivating five classrooms of first graders to sing & dance...yes, DANCE.  There was choreography.  There were also speaking parts that kids memorized.  L was a speaker.  He helped tell a joke.  He stepped up to the microphone & enthusiastically said, "What do you call it when it rains chickens & ducks?"  His speaking partner replied, "Foul weather!"

The evening was quite entertaining.  I'm telling you, the music teachers in our district are amazing.  I've never been to a show (while teaching & now as a parent) that I didn't thoroughly enjoy.  Chad's parents were also able to attend the program, which was special.  Afterwards, Chad, the boys & I went out for ice cream.  J chose a cotton candy flavored ice cream; L ordered one that included mixed-in pop rocks.  Anyone just get a sugar rush or a headache thinking of consuming those flavors?  Anyway, good memories.

The Bad:
I love our cat, but that girl is so ornery.  Ornery, I say!  ;)  Her latest bit is hopping up on our night stands or on the boys' dressers.  She then purposefully knocks off all items...one by one.  This is how she chooses to express, "I'm hungry.  Notice me.  Now."  She likes to communicate this early in the morning.  It's not uncommon to have one of the boys show up at 5a.m., to tell us the kitty is batting around his toys & knocking them to the ground.  (I especially like that J refers to batting as "battling".)   Just to really get her point across, she gets vocal (or loco) with some loud meowing.  She's been a talker, since we first adopted her cute, furry self.  It's amusing.  It would just be more amusing, if it wasn't at 5 or 6a.m...on the weekends, especially.

The Random:
*What's going on in air traffic control towers?  Maybe it's cheaper for employers to have only one or two people on the job.  Hmm...one or two.  That's kind of like having one teacher on lunch or recess duty for an entire large elementary school...a little overwhelming, to say the least.  When it comes to large pieces of flying metal that transport humans, I'd feel most comfortable if a team of highly qualified controllers occupied tower space.  Safety in numbers, Friends.  Safety in numbers.

*We have this:  http://hubblesite.org/ & can see amazing images from space.  Incredible, right?!  Yet, we can barely identify criminals from store security camera images.  Needed:  Hubble security cameras.  ;)
